John Stark: The Hero of Bennington

I’ve been looking forward to this one ALL SEASON. This guy is a hero in my homeland, John Stark may have grown up in the wilderness of New Hampshire and lived there his entire life but… He wrote and performed his greatest work in Vermont. Bennington, Vermont to be specific. Where he led a group of farmers and untrained rabble up against one of the fiercest units that fought on the side of the Loyalists in the American Revolution, the Hessian Dragoons. The story leading up to the Battle of Bennington on its own is super interesting though, he fought at Fort William Henry in Lake George, NY. He fought at Fort Ticonderoga, NY. He also took part in this little thing that happened in Massachusetts called Bunker Hill. ALL OF THAT pales in comparison to the importance of a battle he led in a field in Southern Vermont though… We beat them here today or Molly Stark Sleeps a Widow Tonight. God he was awesome.
