What this is

PodPeopleDB answers a simple question podcast apps are oddly bad at: who's on this show, and where else do they turn up? Think of it as IMDb for podcasts, except open, community-run, and free for any app to use.

Where the data comes from

  • The feeds themselves. Shows that use the Podcasting 2.0 <podcast:person> tag already say who's on them. We crawl those feeds and keep the credits in sync. These are marked feed.
  • People like you. Most shows don't tag anyone, so the community fills the gaps, from this site or right inside Pinepods. Community additions show up immediately, marked unverified until a moderator has looked at them.

Why it exists

Following a person instead of a show is one of the best ways to find new podcasts. Your favorite guest turns up on a show you've never heard of; a host you like starts a new series. That only works if something knows who is on what. Podcast directories mostly don't, so we built it, and made the data open so every app can use it.

Who uses it

Pinepods shows hosts and guests on every podcast and episode, lets you follow people across shows, and lets you add missing people from the app. Any other app can use the API or grab the full dataset.
